The original Joe Millionaire, Evan Marriott, will be returning to TV as the host of a new reality dating show with a wicked twist. It all starts when Game Show Network officially rebrands as GSN with a new logo and a new line-up.
Marriott’s new show, called Fake-A-Date, will feature a contestant who goes out with two people of the opposite sex and has to choose one of them by the end of the show. So far this may not sound much different from every other dating show, but there is a catch.
The main contestant also has to figure out which of his, or her, two dates is lying because one of them is only pretending to be single. The right person must be chosen, in order to win the romantic trip for two. If the wrong person is chosen, the dishonest date wins the vacation for herself and her real boyfriend (or himself and his real girlfriend, as the case may be).
“I am thrilled to be hosting Fake-A-Date which takes a completely fresh approach to dating shows. I can certainly empathize with what the contestants are feeling, especially when it comes time for the ultimate choice,” said Marriott. “It will be fun to participate on a TV show where I get to watch other people struggle to keep a secret.”
Fake-A-Date will air Wednesdays and is just one of many new shows coming the week of March 15th as part of a new 10 PM ET/PT programming block to be known as ‘GSN at 10.’ The other shows are GSN’s World Series of Blackjack (Mondays), reruns of The Mole starting with Celebrity Mole Hawaii (Tuesdays), Kenny Vs. Spenny (Thursdays) and Spy TV reruns (Fridays).
Also coming Sunday, March 21st from 9 to 11 PM ET/PT, Video Game Invasion: The History Of A Global Obsession hosted by skateboard and video game icon Tony Hawk. This is a documentary covering the creation and high-speed evolution of video games.
US based GSN is also available in Canada via most digital cable and satellite carriers.
