Fox Sports World Canada, wholly owned and operated by Global in partnership with Fox Sports International, will offer programming that has never been available to Canadian sports fans on a regular basis.
The lineup will include soccer, rugby and cricket anchored by English Premier League Soccer on Sundays and Mondays. Programming will also include Dutch, Scottish, Brazilian, Argentine, Chilean and German soccer match-ups that will form the foundation of a service dedicated to daily live and time- shifted coverage of international sports.
In addition to live event coverage, Fox Sports World Canada will provide international sports news and information. Beginning September 12, Global SportsLink will deliver a detailed summary of sports news from around the world. Hosted by Joe Pascucci, the nightly newscast will air Monday to Friday. Along with Global SportsLink, Fox Sports World Canada will also feature such acclaimed news and information shows as Sky Sports News and Transworld Sport.
“Our partnership with Fox Sports International has allowed us to create an international sports schedule that is second to none,” said Adam Ivers, Vice President of Programming at Global. “For years Canadian sports fans have been denied complete coverage of the elite soccer leagues in England, Scotland, Holland, Argentina or Brazil. We’re happy to say we’ve got all those and much, much more.”
“Canadians easily rank among the world’s most passionate sports fans, and have deserved a network equal to their unique dedication for a long time,” added Bob Thompson, president of Fox Sports International. “We’re pleased to join with Global to continue to expand Fox’s Canadian sports interests, and look forward to giving Canadians access to the best sports events the world can offer.”
