ACCESS Announces Fall 2007 Lineup

ACCESS is pleased to present its fall 2007 lineup. From the world premieres of the Canadian adventure series “Dream Chasers” and the exciting new quiz show “Merv Griffin’s Crosswords” to the hit sci-fi drama “Kyle XY” and the acclaimed comedy “The Starter Wife”, ACCESS’s fall season delivers the best in popular and engaging programming for the entire family.

“We’re thrilled to showcase an amazing array of Canadian productions alongside hit dramas, comedies, and exciting new quiz shows,” said Jill Bonenfant, Director of Programming for ACCESS. “With a great schedule for 2007, ACCESS has programming to entertain and educate viewers of all ages.”

NEW SERIES

Don’t Forget the Lyrics
For anyone who has ever picked up a karaoke mic or sung in the shower, “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” challenges contestants to remember the lyrics to the world’s most popular songs. Challengers compete for $1 million by selecting songs from a vast catalogue spanning genres, decades, and artists then singing alongside a karaoke-style video screen until the music stops, the words disappear and the singer must belt out the correct missing lyric.

Thursdays at 10:00pm MT, starting September 6th

Merv Griffin’s Crosswords
World Premiere
From the game-show master, “Merv Griffin’s Crosswords” is a new fast-paced, multi-player version of the classic game played by 60 million people every week. Combining the basics of crossword puzzles with the game-show format, this exciting new series pits players against one another in a race to solve clues to complete the crossword and for chances at bonus rounds with big cash rewards.

Weekdays at 4:30pm MT, starting September 10th

Kyle XY
A teenage boy is found wandering alone. He has no name. He has no past. As innocent as a newborn, he doesn’t speak and he seems to look at the world as if for the first time. There is so much Kyle doesn’t know, and yet he demonstrates amazing abilities no one can explain. His talents however are just the tip of the mystery and the questions are just starting to grow.

The Truth Behind Yourself
In this 13-part series, life coach Ellen Goldhar guides six individuals on the path to reclaiming their lives. From the successful accountant who can’t take control of his own life to the single mother attending university, follow the participants as Ellen coaches each of them through challenges designed to help open the door to happier, healthier lives.

Jungle Room
World Premiere
From snacks to naps, dress up to show and tell, “Jungle Room” follows the adventures of eight charismatic kids, aged two and a half to five years old. Told exclusively from the child’s perspective, the series explores the play-filled, manic lives of preschoolers and introduces young viewers to the reality of preschool.

It’s Just Food!
A ray of hope for wanna-be cooks and culinary klutzes, “It’s Just Food!” is a back-to-basics guide that steps learners through the ABCs of preparing a delicious and nutritious meal with the simplest ingredients and tools.

Dream Chasers
World Premiere
An African safari? A movie role with your favourite star? A flight in a supersonic jet fighter?…What’s your dream? This riveting new series gives 12 challengers the chance to make their life-long dream come true. In each episode, the participants compete in a series of challenges where the winners reap rewards, the losers suffer penalties, and all risk being voted off and losing their chance to have their dream fulfilled.

Risk Takers
Every morning when they go out the door, they know it may be the last time they kiss their wife and kids goodbye. Meet the people who do the kinds of jobs most of us couldn’t – or wouldn’t dare – do. From a police officer in the murder capital of the United States to a firefighter who plunges into burning buildings to a paramedic first on the scene at life-threatening traffic accidents, Risk Takers put it all on the line every day.

Simple, Fresh, Delicious
Chefs Lovoni Walker and Tim Wood share their passion for food with simple recipes built from the best ingredients. Each week Lovoni and Tom explore a new theme, from elegant dining to meat alternatives to chocolate delights, demonstrating the path food takes from production to preparation to the table.

Within Reach
Low-income Canadians, regardless of age, sex, or race, are more likely to die earlier and suffer more illnesses than their higher-income counterparts. Exploring the challenges faced by these Canadians, “Within Reach” follows three single-parent, urban families over 10 weeks as they work to improve their health with the help of dedicated street level health care workers.

The Next Great American Band
Created by Simon Fuller, the producers of “American Idol” embark on a search to find the next great American music group. In the tradition of “Idol,” contestants are whittled down to 10 semifinalist bands that perform weekly for a live studio audience, playing both original music and covers in a range of genres and styles. Rock star John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, percussionist and Prince collaborator Sheila E, and Ian “Dicko” Dickson of “Australian Idol” judge the performances and Dominic Bowden of “New Zealand Idol” hosts.

The Starter Wife
