Shaw Media is celebrating a night of big wins across Global and its slate of specialty services. Global’s Hotel Hell, featuring Gordon Ramsay, won Monday night with 1.6 million viewers (2+, national). HGTV Canada and HISTORY, whose fall schedules launched this week, took the top two spots (A25-54) across all non-sport specialty channels. The many talents and mercurial temper of superstar Chef Gordon Ramsay vaulted Global well ahead of the competition for the Monday night premiere of Hotel Hell. Its stellar debut won the night nationally, capturing 1.4 million viewers (Ind. 2+, National) and over 700,000 viewers (A18-49, National). Plus, the hotel makeover program won its timeslot in the key A18-49 demographic for the Toronto and Vancouver markets.

If there is one sitcom premise that has grown tiresome for me in the past few years, it’s the relationship comedy.  We have seen many couples comedies come and go as networks try hard to find the right combinations of men and women to come off as believable couples.  Personally, I’m surprised to see the Christina Applegate/Wil Arnett show, Up All Night, survive into a second season, but NBC seems desperate for this kind of a show.
