A slew of new and returning shows this week, including a spinoff of The Goldbergs; the triumphant revival of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which moves from Fox to NBC in the States, while remaining on City in Canada; PBS’ Finding Your Roots returns with the ancestry of Andy Samberg and George R.R. Adam Savage and a team of the best and brightest put common beliefs to the test, starting off with duct tape. Is it the miracle solution to countless problems? (I hope they do the same thing with WD-40, if they didn’t already on the old show.)

Baked – 8 to 9pm (two episodes) on Food Network – Series Premiere

Comedian Tom Papa criss-crosses America in search of great baked goods. He starts off in Philadelphia in the first show, then heads to New York City with fellow comedian Jim Gaffigan in the second.

Coroner – 9:01 to 10pm on CBC – Series Premieres

Serinda Swan stars as Jenny Cooper, a recently-widowed Toronto coroner who investigates suspicious deaths, based on the series of novels by M.R. Hall. In the opener, Jenny’s first case is one that has a personal tinge, when she is called to investigate the death of a teen at a youth detention centre.

Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates – 8 to 9pm on PBS – 5th Season Premiere

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club – 9 to 10:30pm on MTV – Series Premiere

This reality series follows Lindsay’s attempt to launch a beach house in Mykonos, Greece, including a club and restaurant. (This one-hour opener will be followed by a 30-minute after-show.)

Cavendish – 9:30 to 10pm on CBC – Series Premiere

Comedians Mark Little and Andrew Bush star in this sitcom about two brothers who return to their home to Cavendish, PEI, for the first time since their parents’ divorce.

Project Blue Book – 10 to 11pm on History/Friday at 8pm on Showcase – Series Premiere

This science fiction drama follows investigations into UFO sightings, starring Aiden Gillen (Game of Thrones) as the real-life astrophysicist Dr. Josef Allen Hynek.

This spinoff of The Goldberg’s follows AJ Michalka’s character of Lainey Lewis into the future (the 1990s), when she returns to William Penn Academy, but this time as a member of the faculty.

Unspeakable – 9 to 10pm on CBC – Series Premiere

Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) and Shawn Doyle (The Expanse) star in this drama centred around Canada’s tainted blood scandal of the early 1980s.

Flip or Flop Nashville – 9 to 9:30pm on HGTV – 2nd Season Premiere

Moonshiners – 9 to 11pm (two episodes) on Discovery – 8th Season Premiere

Fishing for Giants – 9 to 10pm pm on National Geographic – Series Premiere

Angling fanatic Andy Coetzee comes face to face with the massive Nile Perch in this reality series that see him taking on giant creatures of the water around the world.
