Programming Highlights for the 2002-2003 season.
MuchMusic is constantly evolving via the introduction of new programming and promotions on an ongoing basis – unlike conventional channels, Much doesn’t necessarily look to the fall as a formal time to shake things up. That being
said, here’s a selection of our newest shows that will play defining roles for us in the upcoming season.
MuchExclusive Signature Series:
MuchOnDemand (60 min.) – VJs Rick Campanelli and Jenn Hollett have teamed up for our newest and most interactive show ever, live from the Much environment every Monday to Thursday. MOD brings in today’s biggest stars to chat and perform – recent guests have included Ja Rule, No Doubt, Moby, Papa Roach, Andrew W.K. and Bow Wow. Check out our brand-new ‘Vote-O-Matic Meter’ for real-time updates right on your TV screen as the at-home audience chooses what videos get played. So stop by, tune in or log on – it’s pop cult multitasking at its finest.

The Punk Show (30 min.) – Yes, punk’s still kickin’ it – Much’s resident dean of dopeness George Stroumboulopoulos is bringing you a brand-new weekly show dedicated to punk’s distinctive stylings and styles. Unique to North America, The Punk Show’s part new, part classic and all awesome, covering current, revival, oi, ska, pop-punk and more.
The DownLo (60 min.) – Chillin’ at the epicentre of MuchMusic’s urban-osity, The DownLo explores today’s broad spectrum of urban music and culture. Hosted by Namugenyi Kiwanuka, The DownLo features a strong ‘on location’ component, coming to fans nationwide from a variety of clubs, concerts and special events. And The DownLo’s so much more than just hot tunes – be on the lookout for Nam’s regular
‘On the Lo’ artist interview feature, plus ‘Elevate’, an exploration of issues affecting the urban community.
[email protected] (60 min.) – Today’s most talked about celebrity showcase. Top stars from the world of music, film and television stop by MuchMusic’s critically-acclaimed street-front headquarters in Toronto for relaxed conversation and a chance to speak one-on-one with their fans. Both the live audience and those across North America have the opportunity to ask questions
via phone, fax and e-mail. Megastars including Tom Cruise, Madonna, Cher, John Travolta, Mel Gibson, Backstreet Boys, Hugh Grant, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Nelly Furtado, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and The Rock have recently enjoyed

Intimate & Interactive (90 min.) – Since 1992, MuchMusic has been bringing artists and fans together in a unique televised experience called Intimate & Interactive. Top celebrities including Destiny’s Child, Shaggy, Mary J. Blige, No Doubt, Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, and Sarah McLachlan have taken centre stage at MuchMusic World Headquarters to offer audiences an exclusive evening of performance and conversation.
2003 MuchMusic Video Awards (2 hrs., June 2003) – MuchMusic kicks off the summer season in style, delivering the gotta-get invite/party of the year. Now known internationally with fans, industry and press for its surprising live mix of red carpet fashion, multiple street-level performance areas, acclaimed ‘genderless’ award categories and mad cocktail action, the MMVAs create a truly
unique forum in which to honour the artists’ and the videomakers’ art.
