Absurdist comedy MIRACLE WORKERS debuts on CTV Comedy Channel Thursday Jan. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, it was announced today.
Season 1 is a Heaven-set workplace comedy based on Simon Rich’s book What in God’s Name. As God becomes dissatisfied with his job and ready to move on to his next project, he decides to destroy Earth. To prevent Earth’s destruction, Craig (Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter), a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers, and fellow angel Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan, Blockers) strikes a deal with God. He’ll call off his Armageddon, if they can solve their toughest miracle yet: getting the two most socially awkward humans on the planet to fall in love.
The series also stars Steve Buscemi (HBO’s BOARDWALK EMPIRE) as Craig’s boss God, and Karan Soni (Deadpool) as Sanjay, God’s right-hand man.
As an anthology series, Season 2, premiering in Winter 2020 on CTV Comedy Channel, takes on an entirely different story. The 10-episode MIRACLE WORKERS: DARK AGES follows a group of medieval villagers trying to stay positive in an age of extreme income inequality, poor healthcare, and widespread ignorance. Their king? A bumbling Radcliffe, who seems to treat his fowl a lot better than his quite-subjugated subjects.
