Business News Network (BNN), Canada’s top source for business and finance news, welcomes CTV British Columbia original in-house production STEELE ON YOUR SIDE to its weekend line-up. Premiering Saturday, Jan. 18, the program airs Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. ET and Sundays at8:30 p.m. ET on BNN.
Award-winning consumer reporter Lynda Steele anchors the popular, half-hour weekly series that originally premiered on CTV British Columbia in October, 2013. The program puts consumer issues to the forefront, with a round-up of the week’s top national consumer stories aimed at helping Canadians make informed decisions about the products and issues that affect their pocketbooks.
“BNN is proud to complement its robust schedule of business and finance news with a program that focuses on helping people make educated consumer choices,” said Jack Fleischmann, General Manager, BNN. “Lynda’s eye-opening investigations have tremendous impact on Canadians who are concerned with saving money while avoiding scams.”
STEELE ON YOUR SIDE is an expansion of the popular consumer segment that originally ran in CTV British Columbia’s CTV NEWS AT SIX. The segment garnered the attention of the 2013 Radio-Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), scooping the Ron Laidlaw Award for Continuing Coverage for its “Faulty Washers” segment. Steele’s in-depth investigation into a series of defective Whirlpool washing machines uncovered flooding problems with one of Whirlpool’s most popular washer models, forcing the world’s largest appliance manufacturer to pay the expensive insurance deductibles of dozens of affected consumers and issue a public apology.
