CARP Debate will air Thursday, April 14 at 6pm ET and Friday, April 15 at 4pm ET

“Three parties, one strategy: capture the senior vote” – The Globe and Mail
“Conservatives signal senior vote will be key target” – Canadian Press
“Ignatieff pledges to expand CPP benefits, seeks senior vote” – Van. Sun
“NDP’s Jack Layton looks out for seniors on BC trip‎” – Van. Province

This election, politicians are wooing “the senior vote” realizing that 70% of Canadians 65plus vote regularly in federal elections, more than any other demographic. Long before the election was called, CARP – Canada’s largest association for older Canadians with approximately 350,000 members nationwide – raised awareness for the issues of greatest importance to this population including financial security, pension and healthcare reform and caregivers’ rights. Now, these topics are making front page headlines.

On Wednesday, April 13, representatives from the major political parties will share and debate their positions on these issues in a CARP DEBATE that will influence Canadians – especially seniors – in their voting decisions. The debate will air on VisionTV Thursday, April 14 at 6pm ET / 3pm PT and Friday, April 15 at 4pm ET / 1pm PT.

Moderator: Susan Eng, VP Advocacy, CARP

Representing the Liberal Party: The Honourable Bob Rae, Liberal Candidate – Toronto Centre

Representing the NDP: Wayne Marston, NDP Candidate – Hamilton – Stoney Creek, NDP Critic for Seniors and Pensions

Representing the Conservative Party: Bernard Trottier, Conservative Candidate – Etobicoke – Lakeshore

Hosted by Libby Znaimer, VP News, The New Classical 96.3 FM & The New AM 740
