CanWest MediaWorks Inc announced late last week its roster of original Canadian programming for TVtropolis, Canada’s new specialty network featuring recent, back-to-back iconic hits.
A total of nine series – five currently in production, and an additional four in active development – are on the slate for 2006-2007.
“These series, which will be the first Canadian-produced originals for TVtropolis, have a flavour that perfectly complements our schedule and the new brand,” said Christine Shipton, Vice President of Original Programming for CanWest MediaWorks. “Our wide variety of producing partners are employing fresh, engaging concepts that spotlight the world of pop culture and celebrity – approaches that support our goal to make TVtropolis the destination for pop culture enthusiasts.”

Debuting June 1 in 5.6 million homes nationwide, TVtropolis (www.TVtropolis.com) is the only national network fuelled by back-to-back hit TV from the last 10-15 years. Shows such as Seinfeld, Ellen, Frasier and Married… With Children – and buzzworthy celeb-reality series – including Celebrity Fit Club and My Fair Brady – put TVtropolis on the map as a TV lover’s destination. Viewers will find TVtropolis in the channel formerly occupied by Prime.
