Two of the most storied cities in Canadian hockey history will face off at the 2005 National Women’s Hockey League Championship this Saturday, as the Montreal Axion take on the Toronto Aeros. The annual championship features some of the best female hockey players competing for the coveted NWHL Championship Cup.

TSN has live coverage of the championship final on Saturday, March 26 at 3 p.m. ET from the Brampton Sports Centre in Brampton, Ont. Lisa Bowes will call the play-by-play alongside analyst Kylie Richardson, a 12-year veteran of elite-level women’s hockey and member of the 1991 National Champion North York Aeros. TSN’s Sheri Forde and Tammy Lee Shewchuck, a member of Canada’s 2002 Olympic gold medal hockey team, will provide rinkside commentary.

TSN is the exclusive Canadian English broadcaster for this year’s NWHL Championship. RDS has exclusive Canadian French broadcast rights for the event, and will televise the game on a short turnaround on March 26 at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Now in its sixth year, the NWHL is Canada’s Senior AAA women’s hockey league, showcasing some of the brightest stars in Canadian women’s hockey. The 2005 NWHL Championship features players from this year’s Canadian National Women’s Team, including the Montreal Axion’s Charline Labonte and Gina Kingsbury, and the Toronto Aero’s Cheryl Pounder, Jennifer Botterill and Sami Jo Small.
