Georges Laraque to Host Off The Record, Tonight

Posted June 23, 2008

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Georges Laraque drops the gloves and calls the shots when he slides into the main chair as guest host of Off The Record (OTR), tonight at 6 p.m. ET on TSN.

Not one to back down from a good fight – or a good debate – Laraque will ask the hard-hitting questions to the show’s guests, which include Penguins teammate Gary Roberts, who will be featured in-studio during the Up Front and Next Question segments of the show.

Laraque is the first NHL player to host the show and just the sixth guest host in OTR’s 11-year run of nearly 2,600 episodes. Tonight’s show marks only the 15th time Landsberg has not been in the host’s chair. Over the years, TSN personalities James Duthie, Jennifer Hedger and Jay Onrait have hosted, as well as Toronto Argonauts CEO Mike ‘Pinball’ Clemons and former WWE Superstar Chris Jericho.

The other guests on tonight’s show will include Detroit Red Wings Senior Vice-President Jim Devellano. Together, Laraque and the guest panelists will take on the key newsmakers and hottest sports topics of the day, including NHL free agency.

Laraque, who once hosted his own radio program in Edmonton, is no stranger to the show, having logged multiple appearances as a guest on OTR.

Off The Record, which premiered in September 1997 and is highly regarded for its sports opinion and controversy, has attracted a wide range of key celebrities from sports and entertainment, including Terrell Owens, Mark Messier, Steve Nash, Mats Sundin, Larry King, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the late Johnnie Cochran, Lennox Lewis, Spike Lee, Tommy Lee, Jaromir Jagr, Vince Carter, Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, Guy Lafleur, Gary Bettman, Roger Clemens, Jose Canseco, Tony Dungy, and the list goes on and on…

All episodes of Off The Record are available at TSN.ca. Off The Record airs regularly Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. ET (encores at 3 a.m. ET and 12 noon ET).
