With the NHL lockout in effect and no end in sight, TSN unveils a bold initiative aimed at giving the NHL and the NHL Players’ Association, as well as fans, something to think about…
The TSN Solution will air on all editions of SportsCentre on Monday, Oct. 4 (6:30 p.m. ET, 11 p.m. ET, 2 a.m. ET/morning loop), and will also be available on www.tsn.ca at 7 p.m. ET.
The TSN Solution is the general framework for a new economic system that could – or should – be the jumping-off point for earnest negotiations to save the 2004-05 NHL season. Hosted by NHL on TSN play-by-play announcer Gord Miller and presented by TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, The TSN Solution tackles tough issues, such as entry level restrictions, qualifying offers, free agency, salary arbitration and the hottest topic of all – salary cap vs. luxury tax.
The TSN Solution is the final product of countless hours of discussion between TSN’s team of hockey analysts (Miller, McKenzie and Pierre McGuire) and numerous experts including those on both sides of the labour fence – owners, general managers, club executives, agents and players, many of whom feel there is a negotiated settlement to be made.
“The TSN Solution is not a grab bag of opinions from our hockey analysts, it’s a well-thought out and comprehensive feature that was put together with contributions from hockey insiders on both sides of the labour dispute,” said Mark Milliere, Executive Producer of News & NHL on TSN. “We understand that these are complex issues and we are not naive to believe The TSN Solution will end the lockout. However these are new and interesting concepts from our team of hockey experts that merit consideration. This could be the catalyst for renewed discussion on how to save the hockey season.”
