TELETOON Canada inc. is thrilled to announce that after the unprecedented success of its original movie, and with the much anticipated launch of its first live-action, horror-comedy series, My Babysitter’s a Vampire, produced by Fresh TV, has been greenlit for a second season. TELETOON’s most successful live-action project to date, My Babysitter’s a Vampire, season two, will commence production in September 2011 for a 13-part series in English and French.

My Babysitter’s a Vampire tells the story of Ethan Morgan, whose over-protective parents assign a babysitter to watch over him and his eight- year-old sister. Turns out, that while she may look like the girl of his dreams, she’s actually half-vampire.

My Babysitter’s a Vampire is an amazing, fairy-tale story in the world of television production. The original movie was greenlit in 2008, followed by a full season of the series. Now it has become a smash success, with Disney also airing it within the U.S. market during its prime-time lineup,” said Carole Bonneau, Vice-President, Programming, TELETOON. “It truly is an exciting time at TELETOON and we cannot wait for fans to see what the series has in store.”

The My Babysitter’s a Vampire series was developed by Fresh TV and FremantleMedia Enterprises, in association with TELETOON Canada inc. Season one of the kids live-action series is slated to premiere on TELETOON in 2012.

About My Babysitter’s a Vampire

My Babysitter’s a Vampire is a fun, family-friendly teen adventure-comedy that takes a bite out of pop culture phenomena like Twilight, Glee and horror movies in general.  This series will continue to follow the geeky and sci-fi loving 14-year-old Ethan (Matthew Knight: Flashpoint, The Grudge 2) and his best pals Benny (Atticus Mitchell: How to be Indie) and recent vampire recruit, Rory (Cameron Kennedy: Toronto Stories and The Latest Buzz), as they defend their town against an avalanche of scary supernatural phenomena.  With the help of Ethan’s smokin’ hot babysitter Sarah (Vanessa Morgan: Harriet the Spy, The Latest Buzz), a fledgling vampire, and her BFF Erica (Kate Todd: Cashing In, Life with Derek), also recently recruited to the dark side, Ethan and his gang will come face-to-face with the netherworld of vampires, werewolves and spirit creatures.

In this smart, funny, fast-paced action series, the gang will wisecrack their way through run-ins with zombies, vampires and werewolves — not to mention girls, detention and bullies — and will remind kids everywhere that no matter what kind of supernatural villains the world has in store, the scariest thing of all is still: High School!
