In honour of the Vancouver Canucks’ advancement to the Western Conference Final, ESPN Classic takes fans on a trip down memory lane – back to a time when the ‘Green Men’ were just boys – with coverage of some of the franchise’s most unforgettable games.

As Vancouver fans prepare for the team’s first conference final berth in more than a decade, ESPN Classic will air 18 hours of vintage Canucks games, featuring some of the greatest moments in the team’s history.

Coverage begins Friday, May 13 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN Classic with the iconic 1982 Western Conference Final Game 2, in which legendary Canucks coach Roger Neilson waved a stick draped in a white towel to signify his frustration with the referees. By the next game, Canucks fans followed suit, waving towels to pump up the team, which later won the series and advanced to its first-ever Stanley Cup Final. Fast forward almost 30 years later and Neilson’s ‘Towel Power’ tradition still lives on at Canucks games.

ESPN Classic will broadcast the following classic Vancouver Canucks games:
Friday, May 13
• 6 p.m. PT – 1982 Conference Final (The original Towel Power game): Vancouver @ Chicago, Game 2 – April 29, 1982 ) – Encore at 3 a.m. PT on Saturday, May 14

• 8 p.m. PT – 1982 Conference Final – Vancouver @ Chicago, Game 5 – May 6, 1982 – Encores at 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. PT on Saturday, May 14
