Corus Entertainment recently announced the launch of SCREAM Extreme on Demand, a new video-on-demand (VOD) offering for one of Canada’s top digital channels, SCREAM. Viewers now have access to a range of horror, suspense and thriller programming, uncut and uninterrupted, available 24 hours a day, scheduled at their convenience.

“Since its launch in 2001, SCREAM became an instant hit and currently reaches over a million subscribers,” says Lisa Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Content Distribution & Max Trax. “It made a great deal of sense to add this stellar brand to the portfolio of on-demand services that Corus offers viewers and distributors.”

Corus Entertainment continues to remain at the forefront of media innovation, creating brand experiences that offer audiences all-encompassing access to its content-rich environments on television, on mobile, on-demand, and online. With the launch of Movie Central on Demand in 2002, Corus was the first company in Canada to offer a subscription video on demand (SVOD) service to customers. A leader in the VOD and SVOD arena, Corus Entertainment has launched on-demand offerings for Movie Central, YTV Anime, YTV Vortex, Treehouse and The Documentary Channel.

Programming highlights include genre classics like Dog Soldiers, The Kingdom and Texas Chainsaw Massacre as well as the acclaimed series Masters of Horror. Available to Canadians exclusively on both SCREAM platforms, this Showtime series brings together the creative talent behind some of the best horror and suspense films to produce a series of pulse-quickening movies made exclusively for television. Dario Argento (Suspiria), John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing), Larry Cohen (It’s Alive), Don Coscarelli (Phantasm), Joe Dante (The Howling, Gremlins), Mike Garris (The Stand), Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator), John Landis (An American Werewolf in London) and Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist) are among the filmmakers featured in this series. More thrills and chills will be added to SCREAM Extreme on a monthly basis.

With SCREAM Extreme on Demand, viewers are able to purchase on-demand films and series through their digital box for up to 24 hours after purchase at a cost of between $3.99 – $4.99 per title. This service is available to Rogers Personal TV customers, with plans to roll out the service with other distributors throughout early 2007. SCREAM Extreme on Demand can be accessed on Rogers channel 100 in Ontario.
