Disney Junior gets roar-some this month with the debut of the new animated series Henry Hugglemonster. Premiering Sunday, April 21 at 12:30 p.m. ET, Henry Hugglemonster follows the everyday adventures of fun loving Henry, the five-year-old middle child in a happy and chaotic, close-knit monster family. In advance of the premiere, join Mickey and the gang in “Quest For The Crystal Mickey,” a special episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse debuting at 12 p.m. ET.
Based on the book series I’m a Happy Hugglewug by award-winning children’s book author/illustrator and Ireland’s Children’s Laureate Niamh Sharkey, the series explores positive life lessons about family and community relationships. Set in the cheerful town of Roarsville, Henry Hugglemonster showcases many of the emotions that young children feel as they learn to navigate their own lives including learning to work as a team, helping others and understanding what it means to be part of a family.
In the series premiere episode “The Huggleflower/ Monster Lullaby,” Henry and his family work together to help get sunlight to the special Huggleflower. Then, Henry and his sister Summer help put their baby brother Ivor to bed. New episodes of Henry Hugglemonster will air regularly Sundays at 12:30 p.m. ET.
The monster fun continues on DisneyJunior.ca where viewers can learn more about Henry’s family and friends. Disney Junior OnDemand also offers new episodes of Henry Hugglemonster as they become available weekly starting April 26. A free preview of the premiere episode will become available for download on iTunes beginning April 7.
Henry Hugglemonster features the voices of Lara Jill Miller (Doc McStuffins) as Henry; Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants) as Daddo and Grando; Lori Alan (Family Guy) as Momma; Hynden Walch (Teen Titans) as Summer; Chiara Zanni (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) as Cobby; and Kari Wahlgren (Phineas and Ferb) as Ivor. Notable guest voices featured in season one include former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell as Isabella Roarson, a monster popstar; Academy Award-nominated Brenda Blethyn, OBE (Atonement) and Brian Blessed (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves).
Produced in Dublin, Ireland, the animated series is directed by Emmy Award-winner Norton Virgien (Doc McStuffins) and executive produced by Niamh Sharkey and Brown Bag co-founders Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O’Connell.Sascha Paladino (Wonder Pets) serves as story editor while Gillian Higgins (Doc McStuffins) produces and Matt Mahaffey (Ni Hao, Kai-Lan) is the composer. The educational consultant is Dr. Laura Brown (Jungle Junction).
