CP24 is the most followed newsroom in Canada on Twitter, with an impressive 93,977* followers subscribing to its news feed, @CP24. The Twitter feed features local breaking news, weather, and traffic, along with a focus on what Toronto is talking about. CP24’s daily web polls are integrated into live broadcasts and share tweets live on-air.

“CP24 has become a leader in the social media realm by integrating Twitter into our broadcasts,” said Joanne MacDonald, Vice-President CTV News and General Manager, CP24. “CP24 continues to lead the way for Canadian news outlets.”

;@CP24 has successfully become Canadian news followers choice on Twitter, and the outlet other Canadian news accounts are chasing. Based on today’s stats, ;@CP24 leads both ;@CBCNews (77,075 followers) and ;@GlobeandMail (77,743 followers).

As a result of the accomplishment, CP24 is declaring Friday, September 2 #CP24TwitterDay. All-day Friday, CP24 will encourage viewers to tweet the #CP24TwitterDay hash tag recommending Canada’s most-followed news account in Canada. Kicking off the day, CP24 BREAKFAST will have special giveaways for the twitter faithful. Viewers and followers need to tune-in and tweet-in to win.

Earlier this week, CP24 launched a new Traffic App for most common Smartphone platforms allowing users to always be aware of traffic congestion well in advance with hands-free visual and audio feedback.
