This July, Movie Central continues the “Experience Something New Every Night All Summer” event with a new premiere every night of the week. Also in July, Movie Central brings the much-anticipated premiere of the Movie Central supported title The Pillars of the Earth. The miniseries event brings to life the sweeping and beloved epic by author Ken Follett. July’s blockbuster premieres include Twilight: New Moon, Paranormal Activity and 2012.

SERIES PREMIERE

THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH
A Movie Central and The Movie Network supported title; The Pillars of the Earth is based on the international bestselling novel by Ken Follett, a sweeping epic of good and evil, treachery and intrigue, violence and beauty. This sensuous, spirited and passionate story is set against a backdrop of war, religious strife and power struggles, which tears lives and families apart. In this time of strife, there rises a magnificent Cathedral in Kingsbridge.

Against this backdrop, human dramas and love stories entwine: Tom (Rufus Sewell), the master builder, Aliena (Hayley Atwell), the noblewoman, the sadistic Lord William (David Oakes), Philip (Matthew Macfadyen), the prior of Kingsbridge, Jack (Eddie Redmayne), the artist in stone work and Ellen (Natalia Wörner), the woman from the forest who casts a curse. At once, this is a sensuous and enduring love story and an epic that shines with the fierce spirit of a passionate age. Ken Follett masterfully weaves these stories through the political turmoil of 12th century England, creating a relevant and viable world for today’s audience and for generations to come. The miniseries also stars Ian McShane, Alison Pill, Donald Sutherland and Gordon Pinsent.

Following the premiere, The Pillars of the Earth will air in its regular timeslot at 8 p.m. on Mondays.
