Super Channel, Canada’s new national pay television network set to launch this fall, is pleased to announce it will be offering the Emmy-winning mini-series, Broken Trial, a co-production between NOMADIC PICTURES of Calgary, ONCE UPON A TIME FILMS of Los Angeles, and Robert Duvall’s BUTCHER’S RUN FILMS.
“Broken Trail won four Emmy’s this year and we are pleased to raise it as evidence of the calibre of programming Canadians will experience with Super Channel,” said Sandy Perkins, Super Channel, Vice-president Programming.
We are honoured that Super Channel has decided to launch their network with our “BROKEN TRAIL,” said Nomadic’s Chad Oakes, adding, “It seems fitting that the film was produced right here in Alberta, which also serves as home to Super Channel.
BROKEN TRAIL was produced by Nomadic’s CHAD OAKES & MIKE FRISLEV and by OUAT’s STANLEY M. BROOKS & DAMIAN GANCZEWSKI. In addition, ROBERT DUVALL and his partner ROB CARLINER were executive producers.
The script, based on actual historical documents, was developed by Robert Duvall and written by long time friend ALAN GEOFFRION. The story centres on a Western rancher (Duvall) whose life intermixes with a group of five Chinese women who were enslaved and are being sent to various mining camps to serve as prostitutes. The rancher and his nephew (Thomas Haden Church) feel for the women and take them along as they move 500 horses from Oregon to Wyoming.
