Shaw Media Gorws Original Content Team With Addition of Two New Production Executive

Shaw Media is pleased to announce that veteran broadcaster, Andrew Johnson and award-winning producer/director, Barbara Shearer have joined the Content team as Production Executives. In their new roles, Mr. Johnson and Ms. Shearer will oversee a wide range of Original Factual programming on Global Television, History Television and TVtropolis, including hit returning shows like Ice Pilots NWT and Canadian Pickers, as well as new series, Casino Confidential and Border Security.

A veteran of the Canadian broadcasting industry, Mr. Johnson brings more than 25 years of experience to his new role. Previously, he was Commissioning Editor of The Lens at CBC News Network. Most recently, he helped program the network’s flagship documentary series, The Passionate Eye. Mr. Johnson is a multiple Gemini Award-winner, and has also been recognized with a Peabody Award.

Ms. Shearer is a Gemini Award-winning writer, director and producer of factual and reality programming. In addition to her recent work on series like History Television’s Tabloid History, Outlaw Bikers, Canadian Pickers and What’s in a Name?, Ms. Shearer has also served as a Production Executive at W Network.

“Andrew and Barbara have each achieved tremendous success in Canadian television and we couldn’t be happier to welcome their unique skills and expertise to the team,” said Christine Shipton, VP, Original Content, Shaw Media. “Over the past year, Shaw Media’s factual programming has performed exceptionally well and we look forward to building on our momentum.”

Mr. Johnson and Ms. Shearer will collaborate alongside current Factual Production Executives, Lynne Carter and Nick Crowe, as well as Director Lisa Godfrey and Senior Director Sarah Jane Flynn.
