Global News announced today that Antony Robart and Rosey Edeh have been named as hosts of Global Toronto’s new midday News at Noon. A mix of charm and personality coupled with extensive broadcasting experience, Robart and Edeh will provide Torontonians with all the news they need to stay informed throughout the day. The News at Noon launches Monday, August 27, and will air weekdays from 12-12:30pm ET.

News at Noon Anchors/Hosts: Antony Robart & Rosey Edeh

“The News at Noon completes Global Toronto’s weekday news offering by allowing us to continuously report on and update stories, while supporting Global News’ overall vision of making news content available around the clock regardless of the platform,” says Ward Smith, News Director and Station Manager, Global Toronto. “Airing live out of our downtown 121 Bloor Street E. studio will allow Antony and Rosey to provide viewers all the information and context they need to get a snapshot of the stories worth knowing about.”

Buoyed by Robart and Edeh’s extensive reporting experience, the News at Noon will cover everything happening in the GTA, from breaking news to entertainment and feature stories, while allowing for a greater flow of information across all newscasts.

To develop this continuity, Edeh and Robart will contribute to other Global Toronto news programming, with Edeh joining The Morning Showteam on Monday, August 27th, and Robart continuing to file breaking news stories for the News Hour at 5:30pm. The News at Noon will also feature lifestyle and entertainment items, as well as in-depth and contextual community-focused pieces of most importance to Torontonians.

The News at Noon team is as follows:

Antony Robart: Anchor/Host – An anchor and reporter with Global Toronto for over seven years, Robart has covered several major local, national and international stories, including the January 2010 Earthquake in Haiti, and most recently, the 2012 summer shootings at the Eaton Centre and in Scarborough. Born in Halifax and raised in Regina, Robart began his broadcasting career in Washington, DC, later moving to Paris as a reporter with Radio France International and a producer/videographer with CNBC Europe.

Rosey Edeh: Anchor/Host – Born in London, England, and raised in Montreal, Edeh began her career as a weather and entertainment reporter with Global Montreal before moving to CNN’s American Morning, and later MSNBC’s Early Today morning program. Edeh spent seven years as a senior reporter for ET Canada and travelled the world reporting on the biggest entertainment news stories. A world-class athlete, Edeh has competed in the Summer Olympic Games three times.
The News at Noon is an integral piece in our commitment to giving local viewers the best, and most complete report possible of the day’s events,” says Troy Reeb, Senior Vice-President, News & Station Operations for Shaw Media. “This new cast represents Shaw Media’s continued dedication to growing a local news powerhouse, both in Toronto and in other communities across Canada.”
