Four more competitors have been eliminated from Canadian Idol last night, leaving 16 to carry on and compete next week. The following competitors have received the fewest votes following performances on Monday and Tuesday and will not be moving forward in the competition:

Ratings: EURO Final Attracts Record 1 Million Viewers on TSN

TSN’s live coverage of yesterday afternoon’s UEFA EURO 2008® final featuring Germany vs. Spain attracted a national average audience of 1.01 million viewers, making it the most watched EURO game ever on TSN. Audience levels peaked at 1.13 million viewers from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET towards the end of the game as Spain defeated Germany 1-0 to win its first European Championship in 44 years.

General News: CRTC imposes strict conditions on TQS transaction, to be revisited in 2011

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) today approved, subject to certain conditions, Remstar Diffusion inc.'s (Remstar) acquisition of the TQS Network and television stations in Montreal, Quebec, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke and Saguenay. The Commission has also renewed the licences of these stations until 2015, but will re-examine the programming commitments after three years.

TSN celebrates the start of the NHL’s free agency period on Canada Day with its second annual NHL on TSN: Free Agent Frenzy show, airing Tuesday, July 1 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET, with a special one-hour edition of SportsCentre from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET. Free Agent Frenzy will also be available live on NHL Network.

Fall Highlights: VisionTV Unveils 2008-2009 Programming Highlights

VisionTV kicks off its 20th anniversary season in September with a pair of programming events that demonstrate the scope of the channel’s multi-faith mission: a week-long series of specials on Islam – including the Canadian premiere of The Koran (see below) – to mark the beginning of Ramadan, and another week of specials devoted to Judaism, timed to coincide with the start of the Jewish High Holidays.

Other programming events in 2008-2009 will include a week of programming on the power and persistence of religious cults, and a lineup of outstanding Christmas specials for the entire family.

Production news: Hit Show 'Fresh With Anna Olson' Begins Production on its Delicious Second Season for Food Network

Peace Point Entertainment Group, proudly announced today the start of production for the second season of ratings hit Fresh with Anna Olson; 26 x 30 minute episodes (shot in HD, airing in standard) to premiere on Food Network Canada in Spring 2009. Once again the series is being shot at Olson’s home in the Canadian resort area of Niagara.
