| New Programs: CTV Orders New Comedy Pilot From Brent Butt |

With production just wrapped on the sixth and final season of Corner Gas (premiering Oct. 13), CTV and The Comedy Network announced today that it has commissioned a pilot for a new scripted half-hour original comedy series from Brent Butt. The star, creator and executive producer of Canada’s No. 1 comedy series, Butt moves behind-the-scenes to helm his latest project, Hiccups, which begins shooting in Vancouver later this month. The pilot episode stars the hilarious Nancy Robertson, who plays Wanda Dollard on Corner Gas.

| Ratings: Fringe Gains Momentum on ‘A’ |

Fringe continues to put ‘A’ at the front of the line: the must-see drama from J.J. Abrams scored 808,000 viewers last night, up double digits in all three key demos since last week and besting Global’s 90210 among A25-54 in both Toronto and Vancouver. Since delivering the largest audience for a new series premiere this fall, Fringe continues to gain momentum, cementing the exciting – and darkly humorous – series as appointment television for Canadian viewers. Fringe is the #1 new series on ‘A’ and the second most-watched series overall on the hot new network following Two and a Half Men.

Sinking Ship Entertainment is pleased to announce that TVO, ACCESS Alberta and The Knowledge Network have picked-up the second season of the reality pre-school series “The Jungle Room” with a title change to “The Ocean Room” to reflect the theme of season two. Produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, the series tracks the day-to-day lives of several preschoolers to reveal the true world of childhood. Season two – with 26 eleven-minute episodes – will begin production in spring 2009 for a fall 2009 premiere.

| Programming Highlights: TELETOON Animation Scholarship Awards New Animators Across Canada |

The winners of the 2008 TELETOON Animation Scholarship have been announced by Len Cochrane, President of TELETOON Canada inc., in a special screening and presentation at the Ottawa International Animation Festival on September 19. All 23 of the finalists received a full pass to the OIAF and 15 finalists were present at the presentation. As decided by a panel of industry professional and visitors to teletoon.com, eleven animators are lauded in this year’s edition of the Scholarship, the only award program of its kind in Canada. Over the past eleven years the TELETOON Animation Scholarship has awarded over $300,000 to aspiring animators from across the country.
