Bell Globemedia Inc. ("BGM") and CHUM Limited ("CHUM") announced today that approximately 8,200 additional common shares ("Common Shares") and approximately 1 million additional non-voting Class B Shares ("Class B Shares") of CHUM have been deposited pursuant to BGM's offer (the "Offer") to purchase all of the outstanding Common Shares and any and all of the outstanding Class B Shares. The Offer, which was extended on September 1, 2006, expired at 5:00 p.m. (Toronto time) today.

CHUM Television today announced plans for a new approach to local information programming at its conventional television stations across the country. Individual stations will concentrate resources where they can be most effective within a challenging conventional television environment. The new approach will see the stations significantly increase focus on service to local viewers, with in-depth coverage of local community stories, events and information. In a number of markets, this will mean a move away from traditional newscasts resulting in a significant reduction in staffing and operating costs.

| General News: CHUM Limited and Bell Globemedia Announce Take-over Offer for CHUM |

CHUM Limited (the "Company") and Bell Globemedia Inc. ("BGM") today announced that BGM, through a corporation owned by its current and prospective shareholders, has agreed to make an offer to acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares ("Common Shares") and non-voting Class B Shares ("Non-Voting Class B Shares") of the Company at a cash price of $52.50 per Common Share and $47.25 per Non-Voting Class B Share (the "Offer"). The cash consideration represents a 50.0% premium over the 10-day weighted average trading price of the Common Shares and a 57.0% premium over the 10-day weighted average trading price of the Non-Voting Class B Shares, in each case as of July 11, 2006. The Offer establishes a $1.7 billion enterprise value for the Company.

The New PL, The New WI and The New NX today announced changes to its News Programming which will include significant enhancements to the morning show "New Day" and the cancellation of the "Noon News". With these changes 7 new union positions will be created (6 full time and 1 part time) and 13 full time union and management positions will be eliminated, resulting in yearly savings of approximately $500,000 for the stations. One time severance costs are estimated at $375,000.

CHUM Television today announced highlights for the 2005-2006 season. Among the new series premiering on CHUM this fall are television’s most buzzed about and anticipated new comedy, “Everybody Hates Chris;” new dramatic series “Just Legal” from executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer; “Hot Properties,” a hilarious new comedy about four women in the Manhattan real estate market; the drama “Supernatural” from executive producer McG (“The O.C.”) starring Jared Padalecki; and “Wanted,” a gritty crime drama from executive producers Aaron Spelling and E. Duke Vincent.

| Sports Programming: NFL Announces One-Year Contract Agreement With CHUM Television |

The National Football League and CHUM Television announced today a one-year contract agreement to broadcast "Monday Night Football". The most successful and longest-running primetime sports series in television history will kick off its 36th season on CHUM's Citytv Stations beginning Thursday, September 8th at 9:00pm ET. Citytv will then broadcast 16 consecutive Monday night games starting Monday, September 12th at 9:00pm ET. The deal ensures fans throughout Canada will enjoy live coverage of "NFL Monday Night Football" throughout the 2005 season.

Overall responsibility for the division has been realigned across three functional groups, headed by the new management team of Roma Khanna, Senior Vice President Content, CHUM Television, Peter Palframan, Senior Vice President Operations, CHUM Television and David Kirkwood in the existing position of Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, CHUM Television, all reporting to Jay Switzer, President and CEO CHUM Limited.
