As Discovery Channel plans to launch its most ambitious programming event ever - the multi-platform "Race to Mars" expedition miniseries and companion documentary series "Mars Rising" (premiering Sun., Sept. 23 and Oct. 7 respectively) - Discovery Channel and SPACE have collaborated to present a rocket-full of additional complementary Mars-themed programming across both services throughout September. From behind-the-scenes stories on Discovery Channel's "Daily Planet" and SPACE's "HypaSpace," to feature films and an up-to-the-minute special on the latest Mars lander mission, it's all the "right stuff" to prepare for the voyage of a lifetime.

Discovery Channel blasts into Fall with the most ambitious project of its history - an unprecedented, daring and dangerous month-long exploration of the Red Planet: MARS. Discovery Channel announced today that this landmark multi-platform television event - including the World Premieres of "Race to Mars" and "Mars Rising" - is the cornerstone of the 2007-2008 season which includes the addition of 15 new specials and series, plus new episodes of 15 returning series.

Last spring, Discovery Channel and Canada's Worst Handyman introduced Canadian viewers to five do-it-yourselfers with reno ambitions that so exceeded their abilities that they'd left monumental home improvement disasters in their wake. Season 2 of the hit series, premiering Mon., April 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, features another motley (construction) crew committed to learning the ABCs of DIY.

| General News: Discovery Channel Canada Nets New Audience Record With King Tut's Mystery Tomb Opened |

Last night's 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT broadcast of the new one-hour special, King Tut's Mystery Tomb Opened was a huge success for Discovery Channel Canada, drawing a record-setting 407,000 viewers A25-54 and 314,000 viewers A18-49 in the Sunday night "Discovery Presents" timeslot. This hour is the highest ever A25-54 "Discovery Presents" audience in the channel's 11 year history. King Tut's Mystery Tomb Opened surpassed previous record holder, Nefertiti Resurrected, which attracted 371,000 viewers in that demo when it premiered in August 2003.
