In response to media speculation, Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. today announced that, further to its previously-announced process of exploring strategic alternatives, it is engaged in discussions regarding a possible sale of AACI. Southhill Strategy Inc., AACI's controlling shareholder (owned by AACI's Executive Chairman, Michael MacMillan, and Seaton McLean), is also participating in those discussions. There can be no assurance that these discussions will result in a definitive agreement.

The unparalleled imagery of National Geographic Channel and the leading-edge drama of Showcase leap off the screen with the introduction of High-Definition television (HDTV) services - National Geographic Channel HD and Showcase HD. These HDTV services, the first from Alliance Atlantis Communications, are now available to the public through Rogers Cable, Shaw Cable and Star Choice. Each of these television service providers launched the two HD services and currently are offering a free preview of both channels to their HD customers.

Legend has it that leprechauns are protectors of fairy treasure, four leaf clovers will bring you luck and Alliance Atlantis has a golden line-up of programming this St. Patrick’s Day. Well, we can prove at least one of these legends is true! This March, tune in for documentaries that highlight the positive and negative aspects of drinking one too many, and movies featuring everything from disgruntled IRA soldiers seeking revenge to an impoverished mother of seven children whose dream is to attend a Tom Jones concert. On Friday, March 17, Alliance Atlantis has something for everyone on Discovery Health Channel, Showcase Action and IFC.

| General News: Alliance Atlantis’ Specialty Networks Lead Industry in Audience Growth |

Alliance Atlantis Communications announced today that its specialty networks led the television industry in audience growth for the first three months of 2005. Its thirteen networks grew a combined 17% among adults 25-54 – almost three-times greater than the specialty industry average of 6% - and Alliance Atlantis grew more than every other major specialty television network ownership group. In addition, HGTV and Food Network Canada had their largest audiences since their launch during the first three months of 2005.

| Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting Programming Highlights for 2003/2004 |

Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting today released highlights of its 2003/2004 broadcast schedule. This comes on the heels of last night's announcement that season one of HBO's highly acclaimed series Six Feet Under is coming to Showcase on August 24, 2003.
Six Feet Under is the latest HBO series to come to Showcase. Season three of the critically acclaimed Curb Your Enthusiasm - starring Larry David, co-creator and co-executive producer of Seinfeld - will launch in February 2004, followed by season one of Mind of the Married Man. The final season of the prison drama OZ begins airing June 6, 2003.

| Alliance Atlantis and CBC strike an overall agreement to jointly commission Canadian television projects |

Alliance Atlantis Communications and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) announced today that they have struck a three-year agreement to jointly commission Canadian television projects
ranging from dramatic series to children's shows. Shows commissioned under this agreement will be broadcast on CBC and subsequently on other Alliance Atlantis channels. A number of jointly commissioned dramatic programs, including Third World, Jinnah On Crime, Chasing Cain and Escape from the Newsroom, will appear on both CBC and Alliance Atlantis channels. In addition, the agreement allows for an early telecast window on Alliance Atlantis channels of a number of signature CBC programs such as Made in Canada and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
