New Programs: DIY Network Canada Takes A New Spin on Home Improbvement With THE VANILLA ICE PROJECT

DIY Network Canada launched today a marketing campaign to celebrate the Canadian premiere of The Vanilla Ice Project, one of the most talked about series to air on the channel since its inception in October 2009. Leveraging Robert VanWinkle’s (a.k.a. Vanilla Ice) fame, the national two-week campaign, targeting Adults 25-54, builds hype for the hot new series which premieres February 13 at 8pm ET/PT. The campaign also drives awareness that DIY Network Canada is on free preview throughout the month of February, making the channel and The Vanilla Ice Project available to 6.2 million Canadians.

Robert Van Winkle), 90’s pop-icon and Grammy-nominee is coming to DIY Network Canada with a brand new series that focuses on his long-standing passion for renovation. Premiering February 13 at 8pm ET/ 9pm PT The Vanilla Ice Project showcases the singer’s self-taught home improvement skills as he and his crew of contractors take on their biggest project yet – a complete overhaul of a six-bedroom, five-bathroom, 7,000 square-foot lakefront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida.

This past April, DIY Network Canada and The Home Depot put the call out and challenged Canadians to celebrate their inner handyman/woman, in the search for ‘Canada’s Ultimate DIY’er’. After a resounding response from over 1000 entrants from across the country claiming they have what it takes to be awarded the crown– the search is over. Five weeks ago, Fred Jason was an engineer with a tool belt and passion for DIY projects. Today he is being crowned ‘Canada’s Ultimate DIY’er’ and taking home the grand prize valued at $15,000.
