Before the characters Starbuck and Boomer were tough, butt-kicking chicks and Cylons looked like Victoria Secret models, Battlestar Galactica was a guilty pleasure that was truly ahead of its time.SPACE brings back the 1978 classic TV space opera every Monday to Thursday at 2pm ET (repeating at 12am ET), beginning September 6. This marks the first time the two versions of the series have run together o­n Canadian television, all exclusively o­n SPACE.

When the 12 colonies of man are all wiped out by a cybernetic race called the Cylons, Commander Adama and the Battlestar Galactica lead a ragtag human fleet of survivors in search of a mythical planet called Earth. Battlestar Galactica: The Classic Series starred Lorne Greene as Commander Adama, Richard Hatch as Captain Apollo, and Dirk Benedict as Starbuck.The series, which was executive produced by Glen A. Larson (Knight Rider, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century), originally aired o­n ABC and was considered o­ne of the top 25 shows produced in 1978.

 

SPACE will present encore presentations of the critically acclaimed re-imagination of the series created by David Eick and Ronald D. Moore, starring Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis and Canadian actress Tricia Helfer.Battlestar Galactica: The Miniseries replays o­n October 8 and 9 at 9pm ET.Episodes of Battlestar Galactica: Season o­ne will air Saturdays at 8pm ET, beginning October 15 and the highly-anticipated Canadian television premiere of Battlestar Galactica: Season Two airs in the same timeslot, beginning January 14, 2006.
