On March 1st, 2005, Videotron, Quebec's largest cable provider, created a new Spanish package for its Illico Digital Television subscribers, which is a first of its kind in Canada. The package called Hispano is made up of five foreign Spanish channels, Canal SUR, Cinelatino, Eurochannel, Grand Documentales, and Utilisima, as well as TeleLatino which is already popular among many Spanish and Italian speaking Canadians.
The Hispano package will bring its viewers a variety of programs from Latin America and Spain and will be availible on Illico Digital Television in Montreal, Sorel, Gatineau, and Rockland, Ontario. The channels can be found on the Illico Digital Television grid between 260 and 264, as well as Telelatino on channel 250. The "Hispano" Channels will be unscrambled throughout March for all Illico Digital Television subscriblers. After the free preview in March, viewers can subscribe to the package at a $5 off rate. They will pay $9.99 a month between April 2005 until the end of February 2006. Afterwards they may subscribe to the package for $14.99 a month.
