Rogers Cable, Canada's largest cable operator, today announced that it will be adding more free programming to its Rogers on Demand service in January as part of the 31 Days of Great TV promotion running from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31, 2005.

31 Days of Great TV is an industry-wide initiative designed to highlight the best programming on the digital dial. As part of the 31 Days of Great TV promotion, Rogers Digital customers will also have access to additional free Rogers On Demand programming.

Free content on the Rogers On Demand service in January will include programming from specialty channels such as Discovery Kids, Animal Planet, ESPN Classic, National Geographic, Silver Screen Classics, and Lonestar.

"Rogers is pleased to participate in this month long free preview to showcase to our customers the extensive variety of programming that is available to them on Rogers Digital Cable", said David Purdy, Vice-President and General Manager, Television, for Rogers Cable. "The Rogers On Demand service is just one example of the choice, control, and flexibility that our customers have to watch what they want, when they want it. And 'On Demand' services such as TMN on Demand and Rogers On Demand are not available on Satellite."

Rogers Digital customers in Ontario can access Rogers on Demand, on channel 350, where they can select from a current library of more than 1600 titles that include movies, children's shows, documentaries and television series. For a period of 24 hours, viewers can watch and replay the program at their convenience. And just like a VCR or DVD player, viewers can pause, stop, rewind, and fast forward the program by using their existing remote control.

Rogers On Demand includes programming from major studios such as Alliance Atlantis Motion Picture Distribution who represent Miramax, New Line and Artisan Films as well as MGM, Lion's Gate, and Corus Entertainment. In addition to motion picture releases, customers can find programming in the library from CBC, City TV, TVA, Atom Films, Anime and Warren Miller Entertainment.

31 Days of Great TV will feature programming from more than 40 participating digital channels from Alliance Atlantis Communications, CanWest MediaWorks, CBC, CHUM Television, Corus Entertainment, CTV Inc., Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and Channel Zero, viewers subscribing to digital services will have access to all new specialty channels throughout January.
