The CRTC has approved the application to bring Fox News Channel to Canadian consumers.
The Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association (CCTA) is pleased that the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has authorized cable companies to offer the FOX News Channel on a digital basis.
"Adding new services, such as FOX News, provides Canadians with a different perspective on world events," said Michael Hennessy, CCTA President. "FOX News Channel is a top-rated news service in the United States and is an excellent complement to the current Canadian digital line-up."
The FOX News Channel joins a growing list of international news and public affairs channels authorized by the CRTC including BBC-World, EuroNews and CNN. CCTA notes that the new channel may not be available to viewers in all markets before the end of the year.
"Each cable company will need to make the necessary business arrangements," stated Mr. Hennessy. "We hope the process will be completed as quickly as possible."
The FOX News Channel, a wholly owned subsidiary of the News Corporation Limited, is a 24/7 national cable news network in the United States. FOX News Channel offers distinctive programming on every issue from politics and family to sports and entertainment.
