Rogers Sportsnet’s broadcast of Tuesday’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning drew an audience of 845, 000 (PPM 2+) on Sportsnet Ontario, the eighth highest rated broadcast in the history of the network, and the highest ever regional broadcast for the network.
“This number proves once again that Sportsnet is the destination for hockey that matters,” says Dave Akande, Vice-President of Content for Rogers Sportsnet. “Whether it is for the pre-game show, intermissions or the game itself, we are the home for the Toronto Maple Leaf fan."
Sportsnet Ontario’s Molson Canadian Leafs Hockey broadcasts features host Daren Millard, former Stanley Cup winner Nick Kypreos and former Leafs executive Bill Watters to preview the game and provide analysis throughout the broadcast, including the intermissions and immediately following the game.
Tuesday’s game broke the previous mark for the highest audience number ever for a regional NHL broadcast, eclipsing the 2007 record of 804,000 on Sportsnet Ontario for a Leafs vs. New York Islanders broadcast that was the second last game of the 2006-2007 season. The number also lifts the early-season average for Leaf broadcasts to 728, 000.
The Toronto Maple Leafs next broadcast on Sportsnet Ontario and Sportsnet Ontario HD will be Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m. (ET) when they entertain the Minnesota Wild.
Sportsnet Ontario’s schedule features more games than any other channel, including 28-regular season match-ups, all available in high-definition.
