Fresh from covering Toronto Fashion Week, Canadian fashion icon Jeanne Beker (host of CTV’s FASHIONTELEVISION) returns to host 4th annual Open Their Hearts and Closets charity event in support of Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto. The highly-anticipated evening of fun and fashion takes place on Monday, November 9, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Gilda’s Club located at 110 Lombard Street in downtown Toronto.

“I’m so blessed to be working in such a glamorous industry, regularly travelling to the world’s fashion capitals,” said Jeanne Beker, Honourary Board Member, Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto. “This is my way of trying to share a little of that glamour with those who might not be able to readily access it – and at the same time, we’re all supporting Gilda’s Club, a charity that’s very near and dear to my heart.”
The annual charity sale is open to the general public and features fabulous items from Beker’s renowned closet – bringing the glitz and glamour of the fashion world to Lombard St. Each year, Beker donates new and gently worn items from her personal wardrobe, with labels from top Canadian and International designers. The pieces (ranging from outfits, shoes, handbags, belts and jewelry) are diverse in styles and sizes but prized bargains for many lucky attendees, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Gilda’s Club.
Donations for the sale were also kindly made by some of the most elite celebrities and showrooms in Toronto including Lida Baday, Michael Kors, Wayne Clarke, Joeffer Caoc, Pink Tartan, Greta Constantine, Danier, Zenobia, Ron White Shoes, Franco Mirabelli, Levy Canada, Bustle Clothing, Designs By Naomi, NADA Designs, Hugo Boss, and Chanel. Also gracing the auction racks are personal donations from CTV personalities Sandie Rinaldo, Beverly Thomson, Christine Bentley, Seamus O’Regan, Ben Mulroney, Tanya Kim, Glen Baxter, Ann Rohmer, Marilyn Denis, Traci Melchor and Melissa Grelo. Plus, wardrobe items from the hit-series DEGRASSI and personal donations from Hello! Canada’s Ciara Hunt and Fashion Magazine’s Bernadette Morra have also been contributed. This event is an exclusive opportunity for the most discerning fashion shopper to get great deals on designer clothing and accessories, while at the same time supporting a good cause.
“We are truly thankful to have Jeanne Beker on-board. This is a truly feel-good annual event for all involved – donor, buyer and most importantly the members of Gilda’s Club who are living with cancer who benefit from the proceeds,” said Bob Richardson, Board Chair, Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto.
Jeanne Beker is one of the most iconic and influential women in the fashion industry, both here at home and around the world. Beker is most famously known for her role as Host and Segment Producer of Canada’s leading fashion series – CTV’s FASHIONTELEVISION. Recognized by numerous organizations for her ongoing community involvement and influence in the fashion world, Jeanne was highly praised by Fashion Group International for her impact on the fashion industry and accepted the Vantage Women of Originality Award (awarded to women who are pioneers in their chosen field).
