Why else would He, in His divine wisdom, send the scheming Father Ted and his colleagues, dim-witted Father Dougal and demented Father Jack, to serve the faithful of this benighted isle off the coast of Ireland? Voted one of the best British comedies of all time, the sinfully funny Father Ted joins VisionTV's popular Britcom lineup in October. Episodes air on Fridays, starting Oct. 23, at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT. The late, great Dermot Morgan (who died suddenly in 1998, shortly after completing the show's third season) stars as the lovable but - shall we say - morally flexible Father Ted Crilly. Ardal O'Hanlon (Doctor Who, Skins) co-stars as the well-meaning but spectacularly dense Father Dougal McGuire, and Frank Kelly plays the drunken, lecherous and completely unhinged Father Jack Hackett, a man whose limited vocabulary consists mainly of words that can't be printed here. Banished from the mainland for assorted ecumenical misdeeds, these three men of the (soiled) cloth still manage to wreak holy havoc in their island exile, embarking on a series of misadventures involving naked sleepwalking, exploding milk vans and an ill-fated visit to Ireland's biggest lingerie section. Pauline McLynn also stars as the manic housekeeper Mrs. Doyle (if she offers you a cup of tea, just say yes, for pity's sake) and comedian Graham Norton makes a number of memorable guest appearances. Irish pop band The Divine Comedy provided the show's theme song and much of its original music. Father Ted was created by writers Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews (Black Books, The Fast Show) for Britain's Channel 4. VisionTV presents a full hour of British comedy classics every weeknight starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
