Unscripted - Guests for the Week of Oct. 5, 2009
Monday, Oct. 5: Louis Gossett Jr.
A college basketball star who chose Broadway over a tryout with the New York Knicks, Louis Gossett Jr. made his big-screen debut opposite the legendary Sidney Poitier in A Raisin in the Sun. From that auspicious beginning, he went on to win an Emmy Award for his performance in the landmark mini-series Roots, and an Oscar playing the tough but compassionate drill sergeant in An Officer and a Gentleman. In this episode, a proud native son of Brooklyn reflects on his long career as a performer and anti-racism activist, and recalls what it was like to be a young African-American actor struggling to break into Hollywood in the late 1950s.

Tuesday, Oct. 6: Richard Burgi
Devilishly handsome character actor Richard Burgi is best known as Karl Mayer, ex-husband to Teri Hatcher on the hit series Desperate Housewives. One of Hollywood's most reliable utility men, Burgi broke into the business on the daytime soap Another World, and has turned up in everything from 24 to Hostel: Part II. In this episode, he reveals the secrets of survival in the acting trenches, and dishes the dirt about life on Wisteria Lane.
Wednesday, Oct. 7: Pat Boone
As a Fifties teen idol, Pat Boone helped to popularize R&B by bringing the music to a wider audience. Today, still clean-cut and boyish at 75, he commands a huge following as a gospel artist and record label honcho, TV and radio host, and political commentator. He even scored an unlikely crossover success in 1997 with a collection of heavy metal covers. In this episode, the man who once had the privilege of living next door to Ozzy Osboune reflects on his career and his faith.

The pair, who just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past summer, also hosted the hit TV series Solid Gold. In this episode, they open up about music, marriage and spirituality.
