Smallville, Supernatural to return; 20/20, new local productions to join current affairs lineup Joytv, which serves the Vancouver and Winnipeg markets, will launch its 2009-2010 season in September with new additions to its lineup of prime time current affairs and drama series simulcasts, syndicated comedies and original local programming. Mark Prasuhn, Chief Operating Officer for Joytv's parent company S-VOX, said a simulcast of the long-running ABC news magazine series 20/20 will join the schedule on Fridays, starting Sept. 11. Joytv already carries the highly-rated current affairs series 60 Minutes and 48 Hours Mystery in simulcast. New local productions The Standard, hosted by 60 Minutes veteran Peter Klein, and P3: People, Places, Perspectives, will also form part of the current affairs roster. Said Mr. Prasuhn: "We are pleased to have firmly established Joytv as the current affairs news magazine leader in Vancouver and Winnipeg, and to have built upon our commitment to high-quality local current affairs programming." Simulcasts of the popular prime time dramas Supernatural and Smallville will be back this season, along with syndicated drama offerings such as The Practice and Third Watch. Joytv will also add the Golden Globe Award-nominated Everybody Hates Chris to a weekday comedy lineup that currently includes such hits as Frasier and The Bernie Mac Show. Other additions include the entertainment news magazine The Insider, the long-running daytime drama One Life to Live (airing in simulcast) and a new prime time series for Punjabi Canadians called Ek Noor. Tom Welling stars as Clark Kent, now a young reporter for the Daily Planet in the big city of Metropolis, where he continues to grapple with the mysteries of his past and the meaning of his strange powers. 48 Hours Mystery - New season begins Sept. 26 Saturdays at 10 p.m. on Joytv 10; Saturdays at 9 p.m. on Joytv 11 The Emmy Award-winning 48 Hours Mystery is television's most popular true-crime series, investigating shocking cases and compelling real-life dramas with journalistic integrity and cutting-edge style. 60 Minutes - New season begins Sept. 27 Sundays at 7 p.m. on Joytv 10; Sundays at 6 p.m. on Joytv 11 60 Minutes, the most successful broadcast in television history, begins its 42nd season in September. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, 60 Minutes has won more Emmy Awards than any other prime time broadcast.
