Some of the most amazing animals you’ll ever see and the beloved pets of Hollywood’s hottest stars are among the highlights of Animal Planet’s captivating new season. For viewers who want to know more about animals – both wild and domestic – and about the people who care for them, this is the place to be.
PET AWARDS (Special)
Do you own anything as unusual as two giant African land snails? Last season, Animal Planet set out to find the most extraordinary pets that the Canadian household animal kingdom has to offer. The tradition continues this season with another great Pet Awards special.
AMAZING ANIMAL WEEK (Theme Week)
Animal Videos Ultimate Rescues reveals the most amazing animal rescues ever caught on tape. A mother deer is struck on a highway, but it’s not too late to save the baby she carries. And a pleasant ride in the mountains of California turns into a nightmare when a woman‘s horse falls on top of her.
Animal Videos Ultimate Oddities demonstrates bizarre behaviour and rare occurrences. A dachshund is a loving mother – to a litter of cordless phones she‘s adopted! And it‘s double trouble when a zoo discovers Siamese croc twins!
Animal Videos Ultimate Stunts proves that the world is full of super-talented animals. See a dog that doesn‘t want to be left behind when his owners go rock climbing, a gorilla that uses sign language to communicate, and elephants that swim with the grace and strength of Olympic athletes.
In addition to these three ultimate shows, Animal Planet is launching a fantastic new season of Amazing Animal Videos to further dazzle and delight viewers.
ULTIMATE KILLER WEEK (Theme Week)
This is the epitome of TV with teeth! Check out Ferocious Crocodiles and the three-part series, Ultimate Killers, and you’ll see what we mean. Watch host Steve Leonard race against a cheetah and dive with barracudas. These kinds of cheeky human/animal competitions give you a true sense of just how vicious some animals are.
HOLLYWOOD UNLEASHED (Series)
How does E.R.’s Noah Wyle (Dr. Carter) handle his menagerie of pets? What did JAG’s Karrie Miller get her Labrador retriever at the perfume counter? Why does sleeping with his hound dog, Bridget, make Ben Stein feel like a million bucks? Get an inside look into the lives of some of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities and their closest companions – their pets – on Hollywood Unleashed. Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle), Will & Grace’s Meghan Mullaly, singer k.d. lang, The Sopranos’ Edie Falco and Dharma and Greg’s Mimi Kennedy, among others, all appear with their pampered pets.
RETURN TO PARADISE (Series)
Zambia’s government has launched a unique anti-poaching campaign to reintroduce extinct species back to their original habitat and to nurse tortured and mistreated animals back to good health. The new series, Return to Paradise, presents stirring stories that demonstrate the initial success of the campaign. Among the most touching tales is that of the British couple offering a new home to wild chimpanzees from around the world.
ANIMAL HOUSE (Series)
Talk about bizarre! Imagine an elephant that can paint and a dog that can scuba dive. How about a pig that thinks it’s a sheepdog, and a dog that can hypnotize people? Welcome to Animal House, a new 13-part series that takes a comical look at extraordinary and talented animals around the world.
