TSN Goes into High Gear with Live Coverage of the Honda Indy Toronto, July 12 Sports Programming / TSN Posted by RAD on Jul 07, 2009 - 05:07 PM Auto racing fans rejoice! After a one-year hiatus, open-wheel racing returns to Toronto with the HONDA INDY TORONTO and TSN has live coverage of this revved-up event on Sunday, July 12 at 1 p.m. ET (4 p.m. ET on TSN2). Coverage of the race is also available in High Definition. This marks the first time since 1988 that the HONDA INDY TORONTO is a property of CTVglobemedia and airs live on TSN. In addition to the race, SPORTSCENTRE will have features and highlights leading up to and following Sunday’s race. Fans can also keep up with the racing action on TSN MOBILE and via TSN Text Alerts sent directly to their wireless device. Hometown favourite Paul Tracy, of Scarborough, ON, returns to the streets of Toronto in the #15 KV Racing Technology car, sponsored by the Ontario Honda Dealers Association and supported by WoundedWarriors.ca. He joins Alex Tagliani of Lachenaie, QC, as the only other Canadian driver officially entered in this year’s race. Tagliani will drive the #34 Conquest Racing car on Sunday. The field for the HONDA INDY TORONTO features the top open-wheel drivers in the world, including IndyCar series points leader Scott Dixon, 2009 INDIANAPOLIS 500 champion Helio Castroneves, and fan favourite Danica Patrick, who will be looking for her first win of this season. The race takes place at Exhibition Place in Toronto on a 2.824 km temporary street course. KISS lead singer Gene Simmons serves as Grand Marshal for this year’s race. The HONDA INDY TORONTO marks the first IndyCar Series race in Toronto since the Indy Racing League absorbed the Champ Car World Series last year. It joins the REXALL EDMONTON INDY as the first of two race stops in Canada on the IndyCar schedule this season. The REXALL EDMONTON INDY runs later this month on Sunday, July 26 at 5 p.m. ET on TSN2.
