Highlights for the 2003-2004 season.
SCREAM is Canada's only specialty television service dedicated to the thriller, suspense and horror genres.
New titles in SCREAM's movie-filled schedule this fall include such blockbuster thrillers as: Independence Day (Will Smith), Speed (Keanu Reeves), Highlander (Sean Connery), Aliens (Sigourney Weaver), The Crow (Brandon Lee), Young Frankenstein (Gene Wilder), Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp), Die Hard (Bruce Willis), and Broken Arrow (John Travolta).
Beginning September 4 – and every Thursday at 8 p.m. – SCREAM will present ‘Thriller Thursdays’; a showcase of great movie thrillers. The first offering will be James Cameron’s The Abyss – The Extended Version, starring Ed Harris.
Also in September, in cooperation with Lion’s Gate Releasing, SCREAM features a selection of favourite horror movies as chosen by the director of Cabin Fever, Eli Roth. Cabin Fever is a low-budget horror film that caused a sensation at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, prompting a bidding war between various studios. Scheduled to be released in theatres September 12, Cabin Fever seems certain to attract wide recognition. Roth’s selection of favourites begins Friday, September 5 at 9 p.m. with John Carpenter’s The Thing. Each presentation will be punctuated with a brief introduction by Eli Roth explaining his attraction to the film.
In celebration of Halloween, SCREAM will pack its October schedule with the very best in horror, including SCREAM exclusives such as Dead Alive (from Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson), Evil Dead 2 (from Spider-Man director Sam Raimi), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the remake will be in theatres early 2004), The Night of the Living Dead, Carrie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Creature From the Black Lagoon and many more classic favourites.
SCREAM will continue its exclusive presentations of the legendary series Millennium, from X-Files creator Chris Carter, and Twin Peaks, from cult filmmaker David Lynch.
SCREAM's evening and overnight all-movie schedule will also begin at 8 p.m. in fall 2003, allowing viewers to choose from as many as six different titles every night.
One hundred newly produced episodes of The Screaming Room will be airing in fall 2003. This Canadian-produced SCREAM exclusive series features interviews with the actors and creators of Hollywood’s greatest thrillers, suspense and horror movies.
New look, new characters and new content will be apparent throughout our movie hosted segments as we revisit characters like schoolgirl Nancy, dominatrix Mistress Olga and, our latest addition, news anchor Sharon Stokowski.
