TSN’s live coverage of the Labour Day Classic game featuring Toronto @ Hamilton delivered a national average audience of 750,000 viewers on Monday (Sept. 1), making it the second most-watched CFL game ever on TSN.
Audience levels peaked at 826,000 viewers during the last 30 minutes of the game, as Toronto rallied for a 34-31 victory over their traditional Labour Day arch-rivals in Hamilton.
The Argos/Ti-Cats tilt was the second game of a doubleheader on Labour Day, which also included Edmonton @ Calgary (523,000).
Together, TSN’s highly-anticipated coverage of both Labour Day Classic games drew a combined average audience of 646,000 viewers, marking a 20% increase over last year’s coverage of both match-ups (CBC, 539,000).
For the first time in network history, TSN had live coverage of both Labour Day Classic games. In 2005, TSN televised the Classic game featuring Toronto @ Hamilton, marking the first time the network had CFL action on Labour Day. This match-up remains the most-watched CFL game ever on TSN, attracting a national average audience of 791,000.
The Labour Day doubleheader headlined TSN’s long weekend CFL coverage, which also featured B.C. @ Montreal on Friday and Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan on Sunday.
