The newly branded digital specialty service, announced today by Canwest Broadcasting, will provide unparalleled access to more than 250 movies a month showcasing popular titles that celebrate the adventure essential to every great movie plot. It will kick off October 6, 2008, replacing Lonestar.
Catering to adults 25-54, MovieTime will offer viewers unparalleled access to an extensive collection of contemporary hit movies from Will Smith battling Aliens in Independence Day and Matt Damon’s search for answers in The Bourne Identity to Tom Hanks’ ill-fated mission to the moon in Apollo 13 or Angelina Jolie smoldering in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
“There are few things that generate as much excitement, delight and passion as people’s most-loved movies and with MovieTime, we are thrilled to give audiences a one-stop channel to catch all their favourite hits,” says Barb Williams, Executive Vice President, Content, Canwest Broadcasting.
MovieTime reflects Canwest’s on-going efforts to review its properties to ensure it focuses its efforts and investments on products that have the greatest audience and subscriber appeal.
“Lonestar was already successful but when we tested the concept of MovieTime, it was such a winner that we decided to rebrand the entire channel,’’ Williams said. “That’s why we’re confident that MovieTime will be successful in satisfying viewers’ insatiable appetite for movies.”
Available in Canada through Rogers, Shaw, Cogeco, Bell TV, Star Choice and Videotron amongst other carriers, MovieTime will launch October 6th with a unique, fun on-air look and feel that embraces the magic of the movies and complements the exciting programming line-up.
