11am to 1pm: NBC Daytime
At the "Water Cube," the women's 10m platform diving prelims are contested. 2000 Olympic champion Laura Wilkinson enters her third Games at age 30 and remains the top U.S. competitor. China, which dominates most diving disciplines, has not won Olympic gold in this event since 1996. Yet that could change because of 15-year-old Chen Ruolin and 16-year-old Wang Xin. Chen and Wang have been called China's "Double Guarantee" because of their numerous 1-2 finishes at major championships.

The U.S. swept the men's 200m medals four years ago, led by Shawn Crawford, who's back at the fore of another strong American group. But the favorite may be Jamaican sensation Usain "Lightning" Bolt. Also, the women's 400m hurdles.

BMX racing is one of the new events at the Olympics - an all-out, full-contact race through a twisting course with plenty of jumps. On the women's side, Jill Kintner was the top American finisher at the 2007 World Championships (LIVE ET/CT).
11pm to Midnight: NBC Primetime
If they qualify, defending Olympic beach volleyball champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh could confirm their status as "Queens of the Sand" in the women's gold medal final (LIVE ET/CT). Top competition includes Brazil and host country China.
