As Rogers Sportsnet’s play-by-play commentator for the Memorial Cup since 2004, the Canadian Hockey League on Rogers Sportsnet, the Canada-Russia Super-Series, the Edmonton Oilers on Sportsnet West and Canadian Interuniversity Sport’s Cavendish Cup, Loubardias has built an impressive résumé over the course of his Sportsnet career.

“It's an unbelievable honour and privilege to be given this opportunity,” said Loubardias. “I've had a passion for hockey since I was a kid and to be able to call the games for an organization like the Flames in a city like Calgary is the culmination of a life-long dream.”

Loubardias joins analysts and former NHLers Charlie Simmer and John Garrett in the broadcast booth. Roger Millions rounds-out the broadcast team as host of Telus Flames Hockey on Sportsnet West in 2008-2009.

“Adding Peter to the mix serves to strengthen our Flames broadcast crew,” said Rick Briggs-Jude, Vice-President Production, Rogers Sportsnet. “Having he and Roger at crucial positions in our broadcasts will better enable us to tell the day-to-day stories of the Flames."

Loubardias started his broadcasting career in Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1984 as the news director of CJSL radio. After spending four years as the play-by-play voice of the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, Peter moved on to Regina of the Western Hockey League where he called the play-by-play for the Pats for four years. After stops in Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg and Edmonton, the well-traveled Loubardias arrived at Sportsnet.

Peter is a life-long hockey fan and shares that love with his wife Coral and son Kael.
