Hennessy Sports and Super Channel, Canada’s only national pay television network, are pleased to announce an exclusive agreement to televise the world title clash featuring WBC super lightweight champion Junior Witter (36-1-2, 21 KO’s) against mandatory challenger American Timothy Bradley (21-0, 11 KO’s).
The telecast will also feature WBC super middleweight title eliminator between unbeaten 168-pounders Carl Froch (22-0, 18 KOs) and Dennis Inkin (32-0, 24 KOs).
This will be the first time Super Channel offers LIVE championship boxing to its viewers.
“We are happy to partner with Hennessy Sports to offer our viewers boxing content in Canada,” said Super Channel, Vice president of Programming, Sandy Perkins. “It is an exciting live offer that is an excellent example of how Super Channel is expanding the Canadian premium TV experience.”
Promoter Mick Hennessy said, “I feel this is one of the very best events in many years and we are extremely pleased Canadian fans will be able to tune in on Super Channel. This partnership could change the face of the sport in Canada and we look forward to working with them to bring the best fights to Canadian viewers.”
In his last outing, Witter, of Bradford, England, finished off Vivian Harris with a stunning, seventh-round knockout. Previously he out-boxed Arturo Morua en route to a ninth- round TKO for his first successful title defense. Bradley, of Palm Springs, California is a serious threat to Witter’s championship reign, long considered one of the super lightweight division’s top prospects; he won his last two fights by lopsided unanimous decisions.
In the co-feature, an undefeated Froch, the WBC No. 1 super middleweight contender, will battle Inkin, the No. 2 contender in a much-hyped, WBC 168-pound title eliminator. The winner will secure a world title fight against reigning WBC 168-pound champion and future Hall of Famer Joe Calzaghe.
