In a deal to be announced in Cannes at the MIP-TV Conference next week, Canada’s top all-HD broadcaster High Fidelity HDTV has enhanced its programming lineup with a package of acclaimed documentaries on wildlife, history and art from Austria’s ORF.

Included in this slate of documentary gems is the award-winning Ants!, a spectacular look at one of the world’s most fascinating creatures, and a stylistic dove-tailing of science and wildlife filmmaking. The film amassed a collection of prestigious awards including the Special Jury Prize at Jackson Hole in 2005; Best Program at the US Internationals in 2005 and the Gold Camera award.

“Programming from ORF is known worldwide for its quality of storytelling and imagery,” says John Panikkar, Co-founder of High Fidelity HDTV, “and we are pleased and proud to be able to offer these smart, refreshing and beautiful programs to our viewers in Canada.”

High Definition programming has become important to ORF over the past two years, and the format will take on even more significance beginning with the EURO 2008 kickoff this June. After the European Football Championship, ORF will continue to broadcast selected movies and series in High Definition in addition to its own HD documentaries such as Genghis Khan, Nature Tech, and its world-renowned music specials such as New Year’s Day Concert and Concert for Europe.

Some of the programs acquired from ORF include:
The Wild and the West
Living Art: Artists and their Gardens
Art City: New York
Vienna’s Forest: Jewels of Green
Praying Mantis: Alien Insect
Ants! – Nature’s Secret Power
The Tiger and the Monk
Carnuntum – Metropolis in the Land of the Barbarians
Genghis Khan – Rider of the Apocalypse

High Fidelity HDTV is Canada's leading all-HD broadcast and production company. It broadcasts four channels, Oasis HD, Equator HD, Treasure HD and Rush HD. High Fidelity has formed HD programming and production alliances worldwide, notably with Rainbow Media Holdings, the leading HD broadcaster in the USA.
