Bell Canada is proud to announce that the National Hockey League is using its industry-leading High Definition (HD) Personal Video Recorder (PVR) Digital TV Receivers for Instant Video Replay during the 2008 Stanley Cup playoffs.

“We are pleased to partner with Bell ExpressVu and their leading HD PVR technology for the excitement and drama that is the Stanley Cup playoffs," said Keith Wachtel, NHL Senior Vice President, Corporate Sales & Marketing. “The viewer's experience is brought to a whole new level with this technology."

“With exceptional HD picture quality, capacity to record 200 hours of programming and the ability to pause live TV, fast forward, fast reverse and view in slow motion, it’s no wonder that Bell’s HD PVR is the technology of choice for the NHL playoffs,” said Kevin Crull, President, Bell Residential services. “We’re excited to be part of Canada’s favourite pastime and to make the same technology used by the NHL available to hockey fans from coast to coast.”

Available nationally Bell’s latest HD PVR, the dual tuner 9242, is capable of recording up to 30 hours of HD content and 200 hours of standard definition (SD) programming and can be purchased outright for $599 or on rental basis for $20 per month. The 9242 HD PVR also features the unique ability to view and record independent programming on two televisions in two different rooms, all from one receiver.

Additional features of the 9242 HD PVR include an exclusive 30-second commercial skip forward button, plus a 10-second skip back button, display Caller ID on-screen and a user-friendly enhanced electronic programming guide that enables viewers to scan for their favourite shows up to nine days in advance, record an entire series with the touch of a button, view three hours and up to nine channels of programming per screen.
