Last November, Cogeco Cable announced that it was beginning to roll-out its new Video on Demand (VOD) service. As of March 31, 2003, VOD has been deployed to 85 % of households overall, 92% in Ontario and 71% in Quebec. Among Cogeco digital cable customers who are aware of this new service, 53% have tried it in Ontario compared to 63% in Quebec.

"In a span of five short months, we have rolled-out VOD to 85% of the households in our territories. This is an unprecedented accomplishment in the cable industry," says Mr. Ron Perrotta, Vice-President, Marketing and Sales. "It is truly mission accomplished for the benefit of our customers who now have access to this new interactive service that is not available via one-way satellite technology. Our customers can view the film of their choice at the moment of their choice. This offer is truly unique and its popularity is confirmed by impressive early adoption rates."

The new VOD service enables digital customers to watch movies with all the functions of a videocassette recorder (pause, stop, rewind and fast forward); all commands are activated on the remote control of Cogeco Cable's digital box. The ordered film is available to view for a period of up to 24 hours. Customers no longer have to wait for a specific movie start time or go to their video store to rent their movie. There are no monthly fees and customers are charged only for the movies they watch.

"The Video on Demand service bears witness to Cogeco Cable's commitment to satisfy, even to anticipate, our customers' varied electronic communication needs by investing in leading-edge technology products that make use of our bi-directional network. We are continuing to increase and refresh the titles available on our VOD service and now that the new service is available to most of our customers, we will be intensifying our promotional activities in the coming months," concluded Mr. Perrotta.
