Peace Point Entertainment Group and the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) present a new television series designed to engage, excite and encourage Canadians to get outdoors, get active and break a SWEAT.

Tuesdays - 4:00 pm
Wednesdays - 8:00 pm (repeat)

TSN will be airing the series in a second window this summer (times TBA).

Statistics Canada data (2002) shows that Canada's obesity epidemic and inactivity levels are spreading even though a growing number of people say they are physically active.

• Currently, twenty-five per cent of Canadian children are considered obese, and that number is on the rise.

• During the six years from 1994-95 to 2000-01, the proportion of obese Canadian adults rose to 15 per cent from 13 per cent of the population.

• The leading causes of obesity, as documented by Stats Canada, are physical inactivity and poor nutrition.

SWEAT is perfectly positioned to promote physical fitness and healthy nutritional choices among amateur, recreational and armchair athletes in Canada.

Hosted by Julie Zwillich, formerly of TVOKIDS, each of the 13 half hour episodes of SWEAT feature a different outdoor sport. Traveling from coast to coast, this season brings you exhilarating sports action including Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Hockey, Beach Volleyball, Soccer, Windsurfing, Rowing, Ultimate Frisbee, Triathlon, Wakeboarding, Snowboarding, Telemark Skiing and Kitesurfing. Guest experts provide examples of the latest sport-specific gear, and techniques as well as provide nutrition and training tips for entry-level participation. Some of SWEAT's guest athletes include, Olympic Beach Volleyball Bronze Medallists John Child and Mark Heese, Canada's young Soccer superstar Kara Lang, Snowboarding Champion Alexa Loo and Women's Hockey Olympic Gold Medallist Sami Jo Small.

SWEAT is produced by Peace Point Entertainment Group in association with the Outdoor Life Network. Peace Point Entertainment Group is headed by Les Tomlin, a successful Executive Producer and Producer since 1996, who has created, financed and supervised the production of 7 Network television series: including: Taste of Life, Drifters: The Water Wars, and BUMP!
