MTV Announces Nine New Series Plus the Return of 14 Marquee Series For Fall 2007

This fall, MTV continues to program seamlessly across Specialty TV, Conventional TV, Broadband, Mobile, Video on Demand and at live events across the country. Today the network announced that the debuts of nine new series in addition to the 14 fan favourites that will return to anchor the MTV schedule.

MTV's lineup of new series and specials for the 2007 Fall schedule includes: "Crank Yankers," "Date My Playlist," "Human Giant," "Kentucky Kid," "Made," "Me & Mr. Jones," "Show Choir," "The Stew" and "The X Effect."

In addition, 14 popular fan favourites will return to MTV including new seasons from the marquee series that have helped build and define MTV in the 14 months it has been on the air: "The Andy Milonakis Show," "Cribs," "Diary," "e2," "Engaged and Underage," "The Hills," "The Hills After Show," "MTV Live," "Next," "The Real World: Sydney," "Scarred," "MTV Screen," "Super Sweet 16" and "Pimp My Ride."

This new batch of programs will be available across multiple platforms allowing MTV to continue its role as the most interactive reality and talk-based channel on the dial. In addition to providing a forum for interaction with the MTV broadcast channel, MTV.ca sets the standard for broadband channels in Canada. Just one year after launching, MTV.ca has exceeded 20 million video streams and offers free exclusive content on demand including: full-length MTV shows, exclusive music events, artist interviews, more than 10,000 music videos, over 1,000 hours of video content and much more.

An alphabetical list of descriptions for both new and returning programs and their platforms can be found below; the maple leaf indicates an original Canadian production.

NEW MTV SERIES:

Program: "Crank Yankers"

Description: "Crank Yankers" is the show where puppets dramatize prank calls. Gut busting and juvenile, "Crank Yankers" continues to lay the low-brow humor smackdown upon an unsuspecting public. All the crank phone calls you wish you made as a kid are brought to life with puppets voiced by the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes and Dave Chappelle. And don't forget all those innocent customer service people out there who are so darned nice and accommodating for YOUR sick pleasure!

Program: "Date My Playlist" *
Cast: Various Canadians

Description: "Date My Playlist," a new custom-made, Canadian-produced, dating series launched by MTV and Maynards and born out of MTV's online playlist community. The series includes eight original episodes featuring Maynards branding and product integration. The series is available on broadband (mtv.ca/datemyplaylist) and mobile. "Date My Playlist" is a brand new twist on getting to know someone for the first time. Using their musical knowledge and pop culture sensibilities, "Date My Playlist's" contestants will get to delve into MTV.ca's Playlists of three prospective partners and see what their music video choices really reveal about them. The contestant then decides whom to hook up with based on what they find in the playlists.

Program: "Human Giant"

Description: Caution!! Viewing the extreme magnifications, blood oaths and never-before-seen illusions in "Human Giant" may cause permanent laugh lines, warped humor and a possible mind explosion. MTV's new short film comedy series "Human Giant" takes over with its own style of fast-paced, hard-hitting comedy. "Human Giant" delivers a unique brand of comedy in short film-style. Staying true to that user-generated and viral video feel, "Human Giant" is intensified by a rebellious rock n' roll attitude. Never a dull moment, the series also features a long list of special guest appearances including Ghostface Killah, legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, pro surfer Kelly Slater, Mary Lynn Rajskub ("24"), Patton Oswalt ("Reno 911"), Linda Cardellini ("ER," "Freaks and Geeks"), Rob Riggle ("The Daily Show") and Brian Posehn ("The Sarah Silverman Program").

Program: "Kentucky Kid"
Cast: Nicky Hayden

Description: "The Kentucky Kid" chronicles the life of pro-motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden as he wins the 2006 MotoGP World Championship and defends his title in the 2007 season. Racing since the age of five, Hayden's natural ability and good looks coupled with the sports' sexy, fast paced atmosphere, has helped propel him as a sports icon. But in a league where the majority of the audience is European, the American Hayden constantly has to prove himself and his status as World Champion. Viewers learn about Hayden's struggles with stereotypes and different cultures through conversations with this close knit family of racers as he is constantly challenged by the contrast between his rural life in Kentucky and his European cosmopolitan sport.

Program: "Made"

Description: Do you want to be made? MTV's "Made" is about aspiration and accomplishment; documenting the internal and external transformation of an individual who is desperately seeking a change. MTV provides the "coaches" to help attain the goals. Whether it's to become a varsity football player, a BMX biker, or a surfer, each teenager has a dream to break out of their shell and find out who they really are. Sometimes they make it, sometimes not, and sometimes they realize they had what they wanted all along. This summer MTV debuted two new Canadian versions of "Made": "Made: Hip-Hop Dancer" and "Made: Pop Singer" with more episodes set to air this fall, so tune in to see if their dreams get made. In addition to the television broadcast, MTV will broadcast the new episodes of "MADE" online on MTV.ca along with a special After Show, "Life After Made" where the recently remade subject returns to discuss how his or her life has changed since their episode of "MADE" has aired.



Program: "Me & Mr. Jones"
Cast: Nas and Kelis

Description: This new documentary series follows hip-hop stars Nas (Jones) and Kelis proves that keeping up with the Jones' isn't easy. In this half-hour documentary-style series, MTV follows the lives of reigning hip-hop royalty Nas and Kelis. Shot in a raw, documentary style, "Me & Mr. Jones" showcases the unseen side of this well known couple. Not set in the bedroom, or even at home, the series follows both stars in their persistent, whirlwind lives on the road, balancing their triumphant musical careers with heart-to-heart discussions about life, love and each other.

Program: "Show Choir"
Cast: The Morgantown, West Virginia Show Choir

Description: "MTV Show Choir" follows the Morgantown, West Virginia Show Choir, who perform songs in four part harmony, complete with elaborate costumes and choreography, throughout one competitive season. The choir is the pride of the town and has won local raves for their performances of Broadway show tunes. Unfortunately, when it comes to competition against other schools, they seem to always come in second. So this year, they've decided to switch things up a bit and perform modernized versions of current pop hits, something other show choirs have already been doing, complete with new hip choreography. During the half-hour series, the cameras follow the choir through this transformation; the students talk about the struggle of balancing schoolwork, relationships, competition and their hopes of becoming Show Choir champions.

Program: "The Stew"

Description: "The Stew", presented by Coors Light and available on broadband and mobile is a 30-minute premium linear channel delivering the best of MTV adrenaline-pumping, jokester- driven, random and bizarre clips from a mix of male-dominated MTV programming and exclusive footage from Coors Light events. Uniquely integrated Coors branding and custom multi-platform promotion attaches Coors to relevant content that engages audience and allows this content to be shared virally.

Program: "The X Effect"

Description: If you were reunited with your former love, would you close the door on the past or re-kindle the flame? This is just the question that MTV's new show "The X Effect" asks. We invite two exes and their current significant others to a romantic resort for what both couples think will be a weekend of romance, heartbreak and revelations. However, once they arrive only the exes are invited to stay, while the new partners are sent home... or so it seems. What the exes don't know is that their new loves will be spying on their every move. As the exes revisit the past "in private," feelings resurface, intimate discussions are had and relationships are put to the test. The significant others find out how their partners really feel and learn that sometimes the truth hurts. In the end the exes must face off with their rivals, own up to their actions and choose between old love and new. Are they still caught up in the past or are they just over it? Find out on "The X Effect."

Program: "The Andy Milonakis Show"

Description: The infamous Andy Milonakis had already established an internet cult following when Kimmel found him and decided to "adopt" him. "The Andy Milonakis Show" is an absurd comedy centered on young Milonakis, stuck at home in his apartment on New York's Lower East Side. In his spare time, Andy makes this strange show comprised of surreal short films starring himself, his dog, his neighbors, and various inanimate objects. Milonakis himself is a very funny young man who in addition to his new MTV show, also raps, sings, dances, and is eager to live up to Executive Producer Jimmy Kimmel's prediction that he will become the next Sammy Davis Jr.

Program: "Cribs"

Description: MTV's "Cribs" is the most exciting way to peep into celebrity homes without getting slapped with a restraining order. Today's biggest stars from the worlds of entertainment, politics, sports and business give VIP-tours through their homes, sharing intimate details about their personally-styled living spaces along the way. From over-the-top blinged out mansions to crazy-cool penthouse suites, "Cribs" gives you the fly-on-the-wall view of where today's heroes work, play, sleep and live. Program: "Engaged and Underage"

Description: This half-hour documentary series follows young couples, between the ages of 18 and 21, during the final weeks of their engagement, leading up to and including the big day. In addition to showing the drama, the tension, the stressful conversations and the humor inherent in the days before a big event, "Engaged & Underage" will also portray a young couple as they take their first steps towards adulthood, and begin to define themselves as people outside the confines of their parents and home life. In addition, MTV.ca hosts a special "Engaged and Underage" After Show extending the conversation into the online space.

Program: "The Hills"

Program: "Next"

Description: MTV's "Next" isn't just about dating; it's an entertaining look at social interaction and the law of attraction! In each episode, five potential love connections are rounded up for one lucky dater. As each potential is sent out, the dater sizes them up based on their conversations and the personal stories they share. If the date starts to go awry (boring, annoying and totally fugly are all legit grounds for dismissal), the dater has an easy out: all they have to say is "next" and the reject is kicked to the curb to make room for another recruit. But, don't feel bad for those who are given the boot; they get cash for every minute they last. The person the dater ultimately chooses gets a chance to a second date or the option to take the money and run. Remember, on "Next", karma is a beotch!

Program: "The Real World: Sydney"
